Random Cards of Kindness: Backstory

Well, it’s been an awful long time since I’ve posted anything on here and for that I am terribly sorry… it’s been a crazy year designing and creating for loads of lovely couples and fabulous businesses, as well as some voluntary work for fundraising events. I hope to start blogging more and keeping you all more up to date with what I’m up to.Right now I want to explain the idea behind a new project I have been working on…

Random Cards of Kindness.

In late August, on the evening of my daughter’s birthday, I received a text from a very close friend of mine saying that her beloved mother-in-law had passed away. While not unexpected, due to a long illness, and even though I didn’t know her very well, this affected me deeply because if you had met this fabulous woman she would have no doubt left a lasting impression on you. She was someone who, even though she had experienced tragedy in her life, was a supremely positive person and this was extremely infectious to all who knew her. Judging by the HUGE funeral attendance (there was over an hour-long queue to sympathise with the family), there were many who, through the years, were touched by her positivity and lust for life also.

A few weeks later, while chatting (and shedding a few tears) with my friend, this lady’s daughter-in-law, she said her husband and his siblings were amazed at the lovely memories people had about their mum. Some of the most special ones were where they had received a short note or card from her in the post for no apparent reason other than to say she had been thinking of them and wanted them to know, and they said these lovely sentiments had meant the world to them and usually came at a time where they really needed to hear that someone cared.
What a wonderful feeling it must be to receive a card, not for a birthday, not at Christmas, but just on a random day, for no reason whatsoever other than to tell you someone is thinking of you, and they sent you a card just because…
… and so, Random Cards of Kindness was born.
I decided to design these quirky little cards so that they could be sent to anyone, young, old, male, female, relation or friend, to let someone know that they mean something to someone.
I have two designs at the moment and more nearly ready for print – and as you can see they are pun-tastic!!! πŸ™‚

Leave a comment below if you have ever received a Random Card of Kindness and what it meant to you.
Thanks a mill,
